I could list the articles which confirm the relationship of the Moon and Water.
I could explain the studies which highlight the significance of Water on our physical and spiritual bodies.
For now, I just want to talk about what I have personally observed of myself and of others in relation to the cycles of the Moon - specifically the impact the Dark Moon energy has on us.
The Dark Moon phase - my observations
The Dark Moon (or New Moon) phase technically lasts for 3 days. The day of the Dark Moon, and the day before and after it.
If you are more sensitive, you may feel the effects for a wider time span, extening the 2 days before, the day of, and the 2 days after the Dark Moon - 5 days in total.
I have seen the ways in which this phase seems to internally knock us down, then create us anew. A day or two before the Dark Moon, we go into a brief state of hibernation. Like a mini death and re-birth personal drama. During those moments our internal battles seem to come out of nowhere and become amplified. And we spend energy analysing our main struggles.

Feeling more introverted
Feeling more introspective and self-critical
And then a resolution comes and we see the light. Our internal analysis allowed us to find some answers. We can move forward with greater clarity and undertanding of ourselves. We have wisdom and move onwards with self confidence.
The days following the Dark Moon you will start to begin and accept...
New ideas and ways of doing things
Reaching conclusions about things that have been bothering you
Your current circumstances and find ways to move onwards
Setting new habits and letting go of old, unhelpful ones
Being aware of the effect of the Moon on our emotions is something I think everyone should make an effort to understand, especially if like me, you are sensitive to mood changes.
You have a responsiblity to yourself to do this.
If you're reading this article, especially if you have made it this far down, you are making an effort to understand yourself and the Moons energies better, which is a wonderful thing.
If you are just starting out, I'd like to encourage you to keep a dairy. You can write lengthy journal posts if you chose, or you can simply keep a daily mood tracker. The idea is to simply track your mood against the Moons phases - see if any patterns emerge.
Also, be kind to yourself.
We can often berate ourselves for not being 100% perfect all the time. When we experience low moods we see it as a bad thing we need to quickly move on from and out of as soon as possible.
I'm tring to show you that life is a cycle and a process - we are meant to experience the highs and the lows. All the living and the deaths.
If you are conscious of the influence of the Moon on our physical and emotional bodies, it enables us to appreciate where these energies are coming from, and their function in our lives.
Continue working to understand yourself, what affects and stimulates you, what makes you tick. We are all each totally and beautifully unique. Take what you like from this, and continue on your own path to evermore clarity and enlightenment.

We are being shown to let go.
Let go of our struggles. And let go of ourselves. Of trying to undertsand and control the process.
Give in and surrender to these energies.
If you allow these energies to wash over you and teach the lessons needing to be learnt, you can re-emerge full of wisdom and inner-knowing.
The more you fight it, or seek to control it, the more you try to apply logic to what is meant to be an emotional situation, you block your lessons and block your growth.
Allow yourself to find stillness for a moment, and become confortable with what makes you internally comfortable. Accept the existence of cycles and changes within ourselves and upon our lives.
Find a renewed acceptance of yourself, dispite your adversitiies. Discover a renewed confidence in yourself through the wisdom gained.
